Addendum to Day 7!!
From Jackson Sipple-Asher: “One thing I liked today was the fountains of the Villa d’Este. And showing Nelson’s new brother, Leonardo, the Villa.” And some pix from Katherine Erickson! (First at Hadrian’s digs, then, at Villa d’Este.)

Day 7, the 18th, LAST DAY! Hadrian’s Villa, Tivoli, & Villa d’Este…Plus, some walking!
Whew, the Italian sun was a-blazin’ today, but we poured liters of water down our throats and soldiered on like true explorers. GO, SAINTS! After breakfast, we hopped on a bus with Marco, the driver, and drove off for Tivoli and Hadrian’s Villa. From Magister Jefferson: Hadrian’s Villa lies next to the ancient Roman town…

A course from our fancy dinner and Nelson at the museum!

Day 6, the 17th: All things Vatican and the Roman Metro (& some…walking!)
Our friend, the sun, reared its majestic head again this morning as we walked to our local Metro stop, Barberini, to get over to Vatican City. (Know the stop name for the Pope’s digs? “Ottaviano,” after that guy who took Julius’s place. History abounds!) Once we got onto St. Peter’s Square, we joined a line…

Saturday (Day 7) Final Day and Trip Home
Saturday we had our course exam in the morning and then, after lunch, the students had 4 free hours to snorkel in Graham’s Harbour, swim, fish or sunbathe. The snorkeling was capped by a joint ice bath courtesy of Mr. Dodds – ice bath participants Seb, Jonah and Jackson seemed to thoroughly enjoy it! Back…

Day 5, the 16th: The Forum, Palatine Hill, Colosseum, & Cooking Italiano! (Er, and walking.)
The sun shone boldly against our backs as we walked to the Roman Forum today. It was gonna be a hot one. But hey, we’re in Italia, so we got this! The administrative center of the city, the Forum was where the serious stuff went down — politics, slaps on the back, finger wagging, and…

Day 4: Saturday, the 15th; Visiting Keats and Shelley (Cimitero Acattolico) & Ostia! (Plus, some walking.)
An unusual start for us so far on this Day 4: some of us visited the cemetery for non-Catholics where Romantic poets John Keats and Percy Bysshe Shelley are buried. We read poems and sat with the literary giants, bathing in their genius. The rest of the crowd had an easy morning of wander and…

Bahamas Marine Biology Friday (Day 6)
Hi all, it’s Sophie writing the blog today. The activities today ranged from being at the top of a Dixon Hill Lighthouse to laughing at Seb’s drawing of a lobster. In the morning we went to the lighthouse and cave. The view from the lighthouse showed some of the lakes, the shore, and a group…

Day 3 (the real full-day #2): Friday, the 14th; Baths, Maximus, San Clemente, and the Capitoline…and walkin’!
Our new day began — sun sparkling, a cool breeze a-blowin’, bellies sated from our hotel’s breakfast — with a walk to and along Circus Maximus. Did you know that those old chariot races (as seen in Ben-Hur…too dated?) consisted of seven laps around that lengthy oval? I hope the horses got some serious vacation…

Bahamas Marine Biology – Thursday (Day 5)
This is Sebastian, Jonah and Mitchell reporting. After three intense days of snorkeling and lecture, today we got onto the bus and headed to the Grotto Beach for some R &R. While out there we were told we have a hour and a half to do as we please on the beach. Some of us…
